The carrot variety Vertou is known for its resistance to damage by the carrot rust fly. In comparative studies of the roots of this variety, a three-fold decrease in the content of volatile substances that attract pest larvae was recorded compared to susceptible varieties.

In genetic resource databases, the variety is used as an object for studying plant chemical defense mechanisms and creating new hybrids. Detailed data on the maturity group or agronomic characteristics such as lodging resistance are not presented in the literature.
