The plant is a hybrid of the genus Dianella, having the breeding designation Proquest D5 and the trade name Blue Stream. The variety possesses a strong upright habit and is not prone to lodging. Mature plants in containers reach a height of approximately 30 cm.
The leaves of the plant are broad and colored in gray-blue tones. During the flowering period, blue flowers are produced. The variety is distinguished by its hardiness, tolerates direct sun and drought conditions well, while preferring soils with quality drainage.
