The variety belongs to the Sunflor series, which are Dianthus hybrids, most often classified as Dianthus gratianopolitanus hybrids or Dianthus x hybrida. The name Rosso indicates the red color of the petals.
The plants have a compact shape and reach a height of 15–20 cm. They are characterized by a short cultivation cycle and a prolonged flowering period from spring to late autumn.
