The variety belongs to the spray carnation group and is intended for the production of cut flowers. The flowers are fully double, with petal edges that have slight or moderate serration. The pedigree of the variety has not been established in official registers.

The name Intermezzo is used as part of the trade name for a number of color variations, including forms with peach-pink or creamy-pink shades. The plant stem height under professional cultivation ranges from 50 to 80 cm.
