The variety was obtained as a result of mutation breeding. The main distinctive characteristic and result of the breeding work is increased resistance to Fusarium.

More detailed morphological or agronomic characteristics of the variety are absent in open publications. It remains unclear whether Lonchabi is an independent variety or a component of the name of the mutant line Maiella-lonchabi.
