The plant is a compact bush 25–35 cm in height. A characteristic feature is the delicate, fern-like glaucous-blue or grey-green foliage, which retains its decorative appearance throughout the season. The flowers are heart-shaped and colored in deep pink or pinkish-purple.
Flowering begins in April-May and, under favorable conditions, can continue until early autumn. The variety is a hybrid of Dicentra peregrina and Dicentra eximia, is winter hardy in USDA zones 3–9 and is deer-resistant. The plant is sensitive to waterlogged soil and contains toxic substances.
