Variety description
10 August 2026
White Rocket and Wasabi are the trade names for the species Diplotaxis erucoides. The plant originates from the Mediterranean region and is marketed as a spicy-aromatic alternative to arugula, possessing a characteristic pungency.
The crop is early-maturing and reaches a height of 15–25 cm during the active growth phase. The plant is sensitive to long daylight hours and high temperatures, which cause it to bolt quickly; therefore, spring and autumn periods are considered optimal for cultivation.
Unlike related arugula species with yellow flowers, this species is characterized by the presence of white flowers. Commercial companies are selecting populations of this species for the needs of the baby leaf segment, using it as an addition to salads to provide pungency.
