The leaves of the Dragons Tongue variety have a distinct serrated shape and a characteristic contrasting pattern. The plant is characterized as cold-hardy and undemanding, capable of withstanding mild winters and being grown both in open field and in containers or greenhouses.
The first harvest of greens is ready for cutting 25–30 days after sowing. The taste of the leaves is piquant, nutty-mustard, and the leaf density is higher than that of common salad crops. If there is a lack of moisture during the growing season, bitterness may develop in the plants.
