The variety is a male clonal plant derived from North American populations of the wild species. The plant is characterized by the presence of a deep root system and specialized salt glands on the leaves, which excrete excess salts from the tissues without accumulating them inside.

The crop is distinguished by its large leaf size and soft growth. It is adapted to growing in saline soils, including waterlogged areas, due to the presence of aerenchyma tissue in the roots. Under an optimal mowing regime, the crude protein content in the biomass can reach 16.7%.

The primary purpose of the variety includes creating a forage base on saline lands, stabilizing soils to prevent erosion, and phytoremediation of wastewater, specifically the removal of nitrogen and phosphorus.
