Variety description
10 August 2026
The plant forms dense clumps 23–30 cm tall and 30–38 cm wide. The variety grows vigorously and reaches maturity quickly. The foliage is deciduous, sometimes exhibiting semi-evergreen properties. Young spring leaves are colored rhubarb-red or burgundy, which changes to green over time.
Large flowers up to 3.8 cm in diameter bloom in April-May. The variety is winter hardy in USDA zones 4–8 and withstands frosts down to -29°C. The plant is resistant to damage by deer and rodents, and develops well in shade or partial shade in well-drained soils.
It is used in landscape design as a ground cover crop, suitable for borders, woodland gardens, rock gardens, and container cultivation.
