Variety description

The variety is a mutant genotype with a reduced tendency for fruit dehiscence, which allows for reduced seed losses during harvest. Anatomical studies show that the non-dehiscence trait is not absolute, as remnants of mesocarp tissue persist at the valve sutures.

The plant is an annual with a height of 60 to 110 cm, featuring a central shoot, two cotyledonary shoots, and oblong-lanceolate leaves. The seeds contain about 60–67% vernolic acid, which is used in the chemical industry for the synthesis of polymers, paints and coatings, and adhesives.
