Plants of this group are characterized by intensive growth, reaching a height of 3–4 meters at a rate of up to 10 cm per day. It is a perennial herbaceous crop with a powerful root system, the productive period of which is 15–20 years. The above-ground part dies off in autumn and regenerates in spring.
The crop is undemanding to soil conditions and requires minimal fertilization and pest control. Within the brand, there are the forms IGNISCUM Basic, used for producing solid woody biomass, and IGNISCUM Candy, used for biogas production and allowing for 2–3 cuts per season.
When breeding these forms, the goal was to limit the invasiveness typical of wild Fallopia species by reducing the capacity for seed reproduction. The crop is positioned as an energy crop possessing high viability and resistance.
