The plant is a perennial ornamental grass forming dense bushy clumps 20–30 cm in height. The total height of the plant including upright stems reaches 50–70 cm. The leaves are narrow, dark green or glaucous-green, and turn a rusty-red hue at the tips in autumn.
The main feature of the variety is the panicles, which acquire a characteristic copper or copper-red color from the beginning of June. The plant possesses high frost resistance, withstanding temperatures down to -34°C, is drought-tolerant, and is capable of growing in poor soils in the absence of waterlogging.
