The variety Springtime reaches a height of 40–50 cm, sometimes up to 75 cm. Its main feature is the foliage, which in spring has a golden center with chocolate or burgundy spots forming a marbled pattern. The plant's flowers are burgundy-violet; the variety is characterized as frost-resistant and low-maintenance, intended for cultivation in shady and semi-shady locations.

The name Black Widow is often applied to plants of the species Geranium phaeum with dark violet or burgundy-black flowers, the petals of which are reflexed. The plants reach a height of 30 to 80 cm, and their leaves are often decorated with brown or purple spots. It is a low-maintenance perennial, resistant to diseases and pests, preferring moist soils in shady gardens.
