The Gerbera variety Alaska is used in floriculture and applied in scientific research as an object for breeding and experiments. In particular, it was involved in work on creating resistance to viruses by introducing the nucleoprotein gene of the Tomato spotted wilt virus.

In comparative trials, the vase life of the flower in the winter season was about 5.93 days. The publications do not contain detailed descriptions of the plant's appearance, such as height or morphological characteristics of the flower.
