The variety is intended for cut flower production. Studies revealed a significant number of flower stalks per plant compared to a number of other varieties, as well as an increased number of leaves. The variety showed a high survival rate, amounting to approximately 95% at the 10th month after transplanting.

The flower diameter of the large-flowered Gerbera variety «Pirineo» is 11–12 cm. The variety was obtained from the breeding company Schreurs Holland B.V.
