The hybrid Crono was created as part of a breeding program initiated in 1997 using Spanish populations and commercial hybrid F2 lines. The plant is positioned as breeding material with a high oleic acid content, the development of which included the creation of lines resistant to downy mildew.
It is important to distinguish this variety from the hybrid Kronos, which is a separate commercial product of Serbian breeding from the NS Seme institute. The latter is intended for the "Sumo" cultivation technology and possesses different morphological characteristics, including medium maturity group and specific yield potential.
