This specimen is used to study chemical interactions of plants and to isolate biologically active substances, such as sesquiterpene lactones, lignans, and heliannuol derivatives.
In agronomic research, the variety is characterized as a hybrid with a long growing season, demonstrating high growth rate and a significant leaf area index. SH 222 also appears in scientific literature as a material for studying resistance to the stem weevil.
