The hybrid was bred by breeders of the Institute of Field and Vegetable Crops in Novi Sad. The name of the hybrid is a tribute to Professor Zoltan Horvath, a sunflower expert from the University of Debrecen.
The hybrid belongs to the oilseed use group. In comparative studies, Zoltan-PR is classified as an S-type, characterized by sensitivity to imazethapyr, and is used as a control sample when evaluating the herbicidetolerance of other hybrids.
