The variety is a hybrid resulting from the crossing of Heliconia stricta and Heliconia wagneriana. The plant forms upright shoots and is a tropical perennial. Its primary purpose is ornamental cultivation and use as a cut flower crop.
The raceme-like inflorescence reaches 20–25 cm in length and 15–20 cm in diameter. The bracts are colored medium red with an admixture of light yellow and dark brownish-green shades. The plant is hardy, prefers well-drained moist soils, and is capable of growing in both sun and partial shade.
