The Rapido variety is a hybrid Hippeastrum with wine-red single flowers about 12 cm in diameter. The petals are ovate with gracefully recurved edges. The plant forms compact flower stalks 35–60 cm tall, each developing from 4 to 9 flowers.

Strap-shaped dark green leaves often have a chocolate tint at the tips and develop simultaneously with the flower stalk. An adult bulb is capable of producing up to 3 flower stalks. Flowering occurs 6–8 weeks after planting; the variety is characterized as long-flowering and suitable for interior use.
