Holcus mollis L. German velvet grass · Ornamentals

Variety description

10 August 2026

The Barlatus variety is linked in scientific literature and originator documentation to the species Holcus lanatus, despite being registered in a number of registries as Holcus mollis. The plant is a perennial grass with pubescent leaves.

Under experimental conditions, the variety demonstrated high total yield compared to Poa pratensis and Lolium perenne when grown in soils with low nutrient content. High productivity is due to root system characteristics that facilitate phosphorus absorption.
