The variety is a spring barley type. During its period of active use, it was often used as a standard in new grain crop trials and occupied significant acreage in British agriculture.
The plant has good adaptability to soils with low nitrogen content. During cultivation, the variety showed susceptibility to Ramularialeaf spot, which could lead to premature plant senescence and yield reduction.
The grain of the variety was highly valued in the brewing industry for its quality characteristics, including malting parameters, alpha-amylase development rate, and specific mash properties.
