The barley variety Emon belongs to the species Hordeum vulgare subsp. distichon (L.) Koern. The plant reaches a medium height of about 88 cm and possesses very good lodging resistance.
The protein content in the grain ranges from 11% to 12%. The variety is used in breeding research as a standard for evaluating thousand kernel weight, uniformity, and extractivity indices, and also serves as a control sample when testing new breeding lines.
