The Julie variety is a selection from the hybrid combination 10 / Azhul // CDC Alamo. The plant belongs to the two-row spring barley type.

The variety is characterized by a high beta-glucan content and is intended for the production of food products that help reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases. In field trials, the variety demonstrated grain yield and test weight exceeding the performance of control varieties of that time.

The variety is adapted for cultivation on irrigated lands and under rainfed conditions, making it suitable for the Idaho and Montana regions.
