The variety is a winter two-row barley. In breeding work, this variety was used as a parent line for creating new hybrids and in studies assessing genetic diversity.
In phytopathological studies, the variety is considered a carrier of the resistance gene Ml-(411145) to powdery mildew. The variety is also a subject of study regarding its reaction to infection by leaf spot caused by the fungus Ramularia collo-cygni.
