The variety is a complex interspecific hybrid obtained by crossing apricot (Prunus armeniaca), cherry plum (Prunus cerasifera), and sand cherry (Prunus pumila var. besseyi). The primary purpose of the plant is for use as a rootstock for stone fruit crops, particularly apricot and plum varieties.
The plant exhibits good compatibility with varieties grafted onto it. Important agronomic characteristics include resistance to root-knot nematodes and the ability to tolerate root asphyxia caused by excessive soil moisture.
