The variety is a semi-evergreen or deciduous shrub inheriting the morphological traits of the species Hypericum androsaemum. The plant features opposite leaves and yellow flowers, and after flowering, it forms fleshy berry-like capsules that change color from purple to nearly black upon ripening.
