The variety is a variegated sport of the variety «Semmes». The plant is an evergreen multi-stemmed shrub with an upright rounded crown, reaching 1.2–1.8 meters in height and width, sometimes up to 2.7 meters. The leaves have a characteristic anise aroma, may have a puckered texture, and acquire a pinkish hue in cold weather.
The plant is intended for ornamental gardening and is used for creating hedges and accent plantings in shaded locations. The variety prefers partial shade or full shade, requires moist, organic-rich acidic soils, and does not tolerate drying out. The plant is toxic if ingested.
