The Selenia variety belongs to the group of New Guinea impatiens. The plant is distinguished by a relatively slow growth rate and forms orange-shaded flowers. The variety has often been used in breeding work as a parent form for developing new cultivars.
When grown, the variety shows a positive reaction to the pinching of shoot tips, which promotes active branching. Trials have shown that the use of growth regulators, in particular paclobutrazol, does not cause delayed flowering in this variety. The plant was intended for commercial use as a pot crop and for landscaping flower beds.
