The plant is a perennial that reaches a height of about 90 cm in cultivation. Its flowers resemble a claw or a beak in shape, and the foliage has a variegated coloration.

This cultivar is a thermophilic plant. In regions with a temperate climate, it requires protection when temperatures drop below 10 °C and is intended primarily for growing in greenhouses or on patios.
