Hirst RZ variety belongs to the multi-leaf butterhead lettuce type with dark red leaves that are above average in size. The plant forms a neat rosette and provides a contrasting appearance in salad mixes.
This hybrid possesses high growth vigor, especially under low-temperature conditions, and is suitable for high-density planting, which allows for mechanical harvesting. The variety is intended for the fresh market and integrated pest management systems.
A key feature of the variety is its high resistance to the lettuce aphid Nasonovia ribisnigri biotypes 0 and 1. It is included in the Nasonovia Defense range of Rijk Zwaan as an innovative development for professional growers.
