The Malibu variety is characterized by intense red leaf coloration, a high degree of curling, and a spherical growth habit. It differs from the Sesam variety by a darker color and more pronounced leaf curling.
Produce of the variety possesses good weight and head size, as well as high resistance to damage during the growing process. The variety is a product of Rijk Zwaan breeding and was recorded in archival documents as a component for the development of other hybrids as early as 1990.
