The plant is considered an alternative oilseed crop. The seeds contain 18–25% oil, in which the share of stearidonic acid is 18–23%, alpha-linolenic acid is 32–37%, and gamma-linolenic acid is 7–9%. Due to the presence of toxic pyrrolizidine alkaloids, the oil requires special refining.
The variety is a biennial genotype. The best yield indicators are achieved with winter sowing, which is similar to the cultivation technology of winter rapeseed. The seed yield potential is 10–15 c/ha, with a possible oil output of more than 300 kg/ha.
