Variety description

10 August 2026

The plant is a compact, dense, upright-growing shrub with a height of 1.5 to 2.5 meters. The foliage has a glossy texture and a deep purple-black or brown-black color. The variety is dioecious; during the flowering period from late winter to spring, yellow female flowers are surrounded by bracts of a dark burgundy or bright red shade.

The variety is slow-growing and prefers full sun, which is necessary to maintain the intense leaf color, as well as well-drained soils. Frost resistance is moderate; the plant tolerates short-term temperature drops down to -4…-5 °C. The shrub is characterized by drought tolerance after rooting, however, it is sensitive to an excess of phosphorus in fertilizer compositions.
