The variety is a perennial herbaceous plant with a greenery harvesting period from June to October. Technical maturity and the possibility of initial harvests occur 60–80 days after sowing.

The plant is characterized by large, intensely green leaves and a pronounced aroma. Cultivation requires fertile soils and constant moisture.

The produce is used for food purposes as an aromatic herb, as well as medicinal raw material. The variety name is associated with a geographical feature — the Rarau mountain range in Romania.
