The Lilium 'Akemi' variety was obtained by crossing 'Towny' and 'Sorbonne' varieties. The flowers have a uniform bright pink or purple-pink coloration with a darker pink-red midrib and orange anthers.

Plant height is 90–100 cm. Flowering occurs from July to August. The plant requires standard agronomic practices for Oriental hybrids, including protection from waterlogging and sufficient lighting.
