The Red Planet variety is a representative of the LA-hybrid group, obtained by crossing the Longiflorum lily (L. longiflorum) with Asiatic hybrids. The plant is characterized by sturdy flower stalks and bright flower coloration.

The primary use of the variety is for cut flower production. The variety is included in specialized floriculture references, where its growth parameters and bulb sizes are evaluated.
