The variety is a valuable essential oil raw material for the pharmaceutical, perfume, and cosmetic industries, and is also used for flavoring confectionery products. The variety name translates as "Velvety," which reflects the presence of pubescence on the plant.

The variety belongs to the linalool chemotype: the essential oil contains about 90% linalool with an extremely low menthol content (less than 1%). The aroma is described as sweet and floral with notes of sweet clover, angelica, meadowsweet, and dandelion; the taste is devoid of menthol sharpness.
