The plant belongs to the Campanulaceae or Lobeliaceae family. The stems are trailing and capable of rooting at the nodes upon contact with the soil. The leaves have a narrow shape with serrated edges. During the flowering period, the height of the plant usually does not exceed 25 cm.
The species is moisture-loving. For cultivation, sunny areas or partial shade with rich, well-drained soils are preferred. In horticulture, the crop is used for landscaping moist zones and planting near water bodies.
