The plant forms dense clumps of narrow, arching leaves up to 45 cm long. The height of an adult specimen reaches 30–38 cm with a spread of up to 45–60 cm. In the summer, it produces flower stalks up to 35 cm long with pale lilac or whitish flowers; decorative black berries appear in the autumn.
The variety is used in landscape design for borders, group plantings, rock gardens, pond edges, and container gardening. The plant is characterized by hardiness and disease resistance, although it may be damaged by slugs. Winter hardiness corresponds to USDA zones 6a or 7a.
