In scientific publications, Sambuc is considered a rice sample used for studying physicochemical and culinary properties. There is a possibility that the name is a reference to the Le Sambuc locality in the Rhône delta, rather than the name of an independent breeding variety.

For this sample, the following morphological grain indicators were recorded: length is 7.54 mm, width is 2.22 mm. The amylose content in the grain is 26.5%. Information on agrotechnical characteristics and origin is absent.
