The plant reaches a height of 30–60 cm. It is characterized by blue-violet flowers with a white spot, externally resembling snapdragon flowers. Cut branches retain freshness in floral arrangements for up to 6–9 days.
Prefers sunny locations or light partial shade, as well as organic-rich, well-drained moist soils. In regions with cold climates, it is grown as an annual or as a container crop requiring overwintering indoors at a temperature above 0 °C.
