The zonal pelargonium variety Showcase Red belongs to the commercial Showcase series. The plant is characterized by morphological traits typical of zonal pelargoniums and was used in variety trials evaluating indicators such as bush shape and tendency to chlorosis.

The variety is mentioned in scientific publications studying the susceptibility of ornamental pelargoniums to the bacterial disease caused by the pathogen Ralstonia solanacearum (biovar 2, race 3), which poses a threat to cuttings of this species.
