The name Black Swan is used by Asian nurseries to promote serial hybrids that have dark flower colors, including peloric forms and the Big Lip group. Since the name is not assigned to a specific genetic variety in the international register, plant characteristics may vary depending on the batch.

Typical representatives of this group have a height of 45 to 75 cm. The flowers have a waxy texture, their diameter is from 6 to 10.5 cm, and the coloration varies from dark burgundy to almost black shades. The plants have a cascade type of flowering lasting from 2 to 5 months.

Plants of the Black Swan group are intended for indoor floriculture. Like other representatives of the genus Phalaenopsis, they are sensitive to waterlogging and exposure to direct sunlight.
