The Phalaenopsis Forever Young hybrid was registered in 2003 and is the result of crossing the varieties Phal. Purple Gem and Phal. deliciosa. In professional producer catalogs, such as Floricultura, this name appears in variety lists with specifications for flower size and flower stalk length.

The term "FOREVER YOUNG FLOWER" (FYF) is also used in scientific publications on plant molecular biology, where it designates a group of genes regulating senescence and flower drop processes in Phalaenopsis, and is not a commercial variety name.
