The name Knight Rider is a trade name assigned by suppliers for the commercialization of mutant Phalaenopsis forms. Official data on this variety as a registered breeding achievement are absent, and the characteristics of the hybrid are not regulated.

The plant possesses a marked tendency toward mutations of flower shape, exhibiting signs of peloria of the 'butterfly' and 'trilips' types. Flowering instability is characteristic, wherein flowers of different shapes may form on the same peduncle during different periods. The color is described as bright, with lilac-purple shades, and the number of flowers on the peduncle can reach 16.
