The Astoria variety is a vegetable bean of the determinate growth type. The plant matures in early terms, amounting to about 52 days.

The variety forms dark green pods, the length of which reaches 6 inches (approximately 15 cm). The plant claims high resistance to bean common mosaic virus and intermediate resistance to beet curly top virus, while susceptibility to brown spot is noted.
