The plant is of the bush type, requires no supports, reaches a height of 35–40 cm, and has light green leaves. Upon ripening, the pods change color from green to straw-yellow, reaching 10–12 cm in length with a width of about 1 cm.

The seeds are small to medium-sized, oval-kidney shaped, straw-yellow in color with a greenish tint and a pronounced garnet-red "eye." The variety is distinguished by simultaneous ripening and high tolerance to various soils, preferring cool, sheltered locations.

Historically, the variety was grown in association with corn or between rows of vineyards. In cooking, it is used for preparing soups and is paired with meat products and dried cod.
