The plant is a compact perennial succulent with a height of 10 to 20 cm. Leaves are fleshy, ovate to spoon-shaped, with a serrated margin, dark green in color, and have a distinct glossy sheen. The variety is semi-evergreen.
Flowering occurs from late spring to mid-summer. Flowers are bright yellow, star-shaped, and gathered in dense corymbose inflorescences at the stem tips. After flowering, reddish carpel fruits may appear in place of the buds.
The plant is drought and heat tolerant once established and is characterized by strong peduncles. It is used in landscape design as a groundcover plant and is suitable for rock gardens, alpine slides, containers, and green roofs.
